I've just been having a look at Thing 3 today. This Thing looks at Twitter, RSS and Pushnote so I've been having an explore around them. I'm familiar with Twitter of course and RSS although I don't think I'd ever set up a reader prior to this.
Anyway so yep I'm already on Twitter though never post to it to be honest. I do go on there to check out what the people I'm following are saying and to have a general nose but do appreciate that it could be a good professional tool too. Our department's on there and a couple of my colleagues use it, to what looks like good effect. I added a few more people to follow, CPD23 being one of them and one of these days I might add another tweet to my current solitary one.
The next thing to look at was RSS. Found it simple to set up the google reader and to add some feeds. I added some of the suggested ones including wikiman who talks about his use of prezi in his latest blog. We've just started to use it in our inductions and workshop sessions so it was interesting to read that this particular Libarian has had what sounds like a really positive reaction from students and staff about it, which is encouraging. It's also good to know that other libraries are taking it up too.
Finally had a look at pushnote. Seems like it would be useful if you use facebook a lot or tweet a lot too. It's nice how you can bookmark a site and then simply share and post a comment about it to either facebook or twitter. Think I'll probably stick to delicious but it's good to know about these things.
Looking forward to the next thing and two more episodes of the Killing on Saturday. Awesome.
